Hello all Here we are with our latest report after the Southern 100 races which took place through last week. We had a really great time at this meeting, it’s friendly with a very relaxed atmosphere. Scott was competing in both the 600cc and 100cc races.
Practise session was on the Monday evening, the first race for Scott should have been on Tuesday evening - but the weather interfered and his first race was moved to Wednesday evening. The track was very wet to begin – the 600 race got away quickly and Scott, being no big fan of the wet conditions, finished 15th place, which was about mid field and not bad.

The next race was the Corlett’s Trophy race on the 1000cc. The conditions were much improved and Scott made a great start and was amongst the pack on the way to the first corner - alot of close and superb racing with changing of positions went on and Scott finished in 7th place which was great as the track was still damp in places. Here is the result sheet for that race;-

Thursday came and Scotts next race was in the morning – Thursday is the big race day with racing going on most of the day. So the 600cc race, race 7, and Scott didn’t get away too well, he had a bad grid position due to his 15th place in the first 600cc race, so what he needed was a good start to get him to the front - but he found himself in last place going in to the first corner and had alot of work to do - its very difficult to make your way forward from there - anyway Scott started making his way through the riders in front of him and finished again in 15th place.
Now the big race of the event, race 10 1000cc, this was the one Scott wanted to do well in and he did not mess about. He got away to a roaring start and was sitting in 6th place, when the race was stopped due to an accident. The race got re-started and he was on row two which put him in a great position for the start. Scott made a sensational start and was in the front bunch on the first lap, the first three riders started to pull away from him and he was having a great race with Victor Gilmore who was trying to catch Scott. Scott came home in a superb 4th place – which is absolutely brilliant and in the money! Below are the results from that race, followed by some photos courtesy of Bob Shipper.
