Transport History

Back in 1975 Roy Holding and two partners formed Diamond H Transport – the H eventually becoming the businesses symbol came about because there was already a Diamond Transport and so they popped the H in to make the difference.   Roy bought the two partners out in 1981 and made it a family business.

Specialising in rigid vehicles for the first 13 years and becoming very successful UK wide, 1988 DHT bought a large fleet of artic and crane vehicles and steered the business in a new direction and away from part load specialist work. By this time Roys son Steve was very involved and in 1994 – Roy took a side step and put Steve in charge who then took on Diamond H transport and brought it up to date, reinventing the business and built up a fleet of hiab mounted vehicles of all sizes.

In 2005 time was up for the haulage yard in Thelwall and they up rooted and moved to Wigan – where Roy stood down completely and left Steve on his own for a short time – and in 2006 Daz was invited into the transport office to manage along side Steve

Racing History

During the 80’s through one of the drivers Dave Norris, Roy got involved in motorcycle grass track racing, which led him into a different world – close by lived a lot of speedway riders and through the grass track world along and in to the world of speedway he ventured.

The likes of Peter Collins who was world Champion at the sport started to be regular faces in the Diamond H head quarters, and Roy got involved sponsoring present and future world speedway champions, including Les Collins, Neil Collins, Joe Screen, Steve Johnston to name but a few. Not forgetting the endless list of grass track riders – Roy couldn’t resist giving the young enthusiasts a helping hand and little green Diamond H’s appeared everywhere – even to this day. Steve also was a keen and very good grass track rider – although he gave that up in the late 90’s and switched to road bikes.

For 2007 and 2008

Steve decided to help Scott Wilson with his Road racing Scott was riding for PRF Racing so he started to help them providing them with a new bike in 2007 and in 2008 Steve was getting more involved and bought another new bike and race truck for PRF Racing to use.
