TT 2011

Hello All Well wow - We have just finished our 2nd TT at the Isle of Man, and here is the team report from Team Manager, Steve Holding;

Firstly I would like to thank all the team for their part in 2011 TT. All members worked very hard and it showed with 5 race finishes, covering 760 miles of racing at over 117 mph average and 370 miles of practice, which shows the bikes were well prepared for the hard task of getting through a TT race. It’s difficult to go into depth for each race, so here are the main bits..

Race 1;-  Superbike race Sat 4th June 1000cc machine;

·         Scott finished in a superb 24th place at a race average (including 2 fuel stops) of 117.5 mph, 222 racing miles covered.

Race 2;-  Monday 6th June in the morning, the Supersport Race 1 600cc machine

·         Scott finished 30th place with a race average of 115 mph 148 mile race.

Race 3;- Mon 6 June afternoon,  superstock race

·         Scott finished 33rd place at a speed of 117 mph race average 148 miles.

Wednesday’s race, the Supersport  race 2,  was started although a lot of the riders were not happy about the track conditions.  Most of the track was dry, but nasty bits were very damp because of earlier rain, so after one lap and a few riders sliding off – it was stopped and postponed till Thursday.

Race 4;- Thursday 9th June Supersport  race 2

·         26th place race average 114mph, 148 mile race

So off they went – one by one. On about the second lap, one red flag was waved, great – hearts dropped as we heard the news a red flag situation – we knew Scott was in that area – all sorts whiz through the mind.  But no more red flags appeared around the course – (we think one at Union Mills) and there was some confusion - then we heard it was a false alarm and after a few minutes the riders that had been pulled over – were set off again and as you would only expect – Scott was one of the riders who was right there at the time and had stopped, flippin typical – that’ll be a TT quiz question in years to come, so Scott’s in the history book for something different hahaa!! Their times were adjusted after they completed the race, thank fully everyone was safe, but quite a distressing time.

Race 5;- Friday 10th June Senior superbike TT

This is the big one – all the competitors want to be in this race.  This race is supposed to start at 1.30 – but was brought forward to 12.15…the weather around the course was so varied the race was postponed for an hour – then 2 hours – then another 2 hours, taking it round to a 5.30 start, around normal practise time, so not unusual for the riders.  The clouds that were hovering around the mountain and over Ramsey cleared by this time leaving a beautiful bright sunshine filled sky – track completely dry and perfect for racing.

·         29th place at race average 117mph 222 mile race

We would also like to mention how saddened and sorry we all are at the dreadful untimely and sad departure of Derek Brien during the Monday morning race.

Rider Report From Scott Wilson

“I was apprehensive about the start of our second TT with the new Bmw RR1000 and the Hallet aviation 600cc machine along with the Diamond H 600 cc machine, which I had not ridden before.  Through practise week we struggled, with not enough practice, I never reached the practice speeds I would have liked to, but hey ho! After practice week I was happy with the BMW and Yamaha 600 cc machine.

 I would like to thank Steve Holding, Richard Pelter, Henry Jones, Jamie Blood, Bob shipper, and Mark Wilson for their 2 weeks of hard work to help me finish 5 TT races.  I would also like to thank Neil Hallet for the loan of his Bike for the 600cc races.
